How the PIcArbs system works

Step 1:†††††††††††††† Send the proposal to arbitrate letter and the PIcArbs † arbitration agreement to the other party

Step 2:†††††††††††††† Both Parties/lawyers sign the arbitration agreement

Step 3: ††††††††††††† Both lawyers & Insurers register on the PIcArbs e-filing site: †

††††††††††††††††††††††††† www.PIcArbs/co.uk/filing.

Step 4:†††††††††††††† The Claimant Starts the Arbitration and e-files the Arbitration Agreement signed by both Parties, with a Summary of the Claim and pays the Commencement Fee (£1,600 + VAT).† This stops limitation running.

Step 5:†††††††††††††† PIcArbs appoints the arbitrator

Either:†

Step 6:†††††††††††††† The Defendant then e-files a response to the claim

Step 7:†††††††††††††† The Arbitration runs to settlement or trial

Or:††††††††††††††††††††

††††††††††††††††††††††††† The parties agree to stay the arbitration and use the e-filing system to exchange evidence and settle the claim without pleadings
